After an injury to Adam Copeland during AEW Double or Nothing 2024, where he took the risk of jumping from the top of a barbed wire steel cage, the AEW TNT Championship needed to be released. To find a new champion, All Elite Wrestling has been preparing qualifiers to compete in an extraordinary ladder match for the title at the event AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III.
Competing in this unique match were Konosuke Takeshita, ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry, Dante Martin, Lio Rush and El Phantasmo.
The challenging match concluded with Jack Perry, rising above his competitors, securing the now available title.

While the match saw a wave of support for all the wrestlers, Konosuke Takeshita seemed to elicit the highest amount of positive response from the audience. With the continued dominance of The Elite, this victory broadens their rule, adding Perry, Kazuchika Okada, and both members of The Young Bucks to the list of current champions.
