Ember Moon Was Just Cleared, NXT Return Was Discussed Prior To Achilles Injury

Ember Moon made her long-awaited return to WWE TV and we now know she was the “mystery biker” teasing their return to NXT.

Triple H addressed her return at NXT TakeOver 31, noting that she was just cleared and everyone is excited to have her back. As far as the timing of it all, he says Ember Moon was just cleared for action but they had been discussing her return to the NXT brand even before her Achilles injury in 2019.

“Just when you think the women’s division in NXT can’t get any stronger, the depths of it is incredible. Out comes Toni Storm, back in NXT. Out comes Ember Moon, returning from what could have been—or what was—a career-threatening injury, but is back and ready to go and back here in NXT. I can tell you that it was hard not for her to be smiling, she’s so excited to be here, so excited to be back and getting ready to do what she loves to do. I asked her who she was looking forward to working with and she gave me about a 12-person list,” Triple H said, “so it just speaks to the division and how strong it is and everybody wanting to be here and be a part of it because the competition is the best and it makes everyone rise to a higher occasion.”

”As far as the timing of her return, the timing of her return was based on when she was available to return. We had been talking about her coming back here for a while,” Triple H said, “probably since she was injured, maybe even before that. The timing was just here. She just got cleared. She’s healthy, she’s chomping at the bit to return, so the door was open.”

Ember Moon had been sidelined since September; her last match was a loss to Lacey Evans on RAW. Ember’s injury was not one that occurred in the ring, but during a 24/7 Championship backstage segment bit on WWE RAW. She later revealed on WWE Backstage that it could potentially be a career-ending injury, initially telling ComicBook.com in July that she was trying to avoid a second surgery.

“It’s just a very, very long process and I would love, love, love to have a date back on the board but it’s up in the air,” Moon said. “I’m sitting here and I’m fighting a second surgery. I’m fighting against the second surgery. That’s how bad it is,” she said. When I went on Backstage and I said, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to wrestle again,’ I meant what I said and I, I stand by that.”
