In a recent interaction with Alistair McGeorge from Metro UK, the ex-WWE Superstar Elias weighed in on his disappointments during his tenure in WWE following his release last year. His uncertainties about his future post-WWE were also discussed during this interview.
Here are the key points of this conversation:
Speaking about his resentment in WWE, Elias noted: “The reality that I was confined to brief, backstage appearances aggravated me to such an extent that I felt like quitting wrestling. I actually thought I was done with it. It just isn’t that magical experience I dreamt of as a child, of being in wrestling and being a part of WWE…”
In response to being unsure of his plans after his WWE release, he added: “I’m not among those who would simply sit idle collecting paychecks. I always wanted to be actively involved. I wanted to prove that I could compete toe-to-toe with the very best. The failure to realize that aspiration was really heart-breaking. Hence, I was clueless about what to do post-release.”
When asked about facing Mike Bailey at Wrestling Revolver and rediscovering his passion: “That was when I realized, ‘Indeed, the joy of wrestling is still there.’ That’s what I prefer to engage in now. It’s genuinely rewarding to travel, wrestle, stay true to myself, and network with new people.”
