Eddie Kingston Pays Tribute To Homicide Ahead Of Farewell Match, Updated ROH Card

Homicide, the renowned wrestler, is set to wrestle his final bout tonight following an announcement that stemmed from the detection of a brain cyst.

A new video celebrating the illustrious wrestling career of Homicide was newly launched by Ring of Honor. The footage includes a commendation from Eddie Kingston, his longtime ally.

In the tribute video, Kingston says,“Starting with a tease, I really hope they present Homicide’s bouts with Steve Corino, his spat with Colt Cabana, his clash with Samoa Joe, his rift with Bryan Danielson — See, the word ‘feud’ keeps recurring? Dealing with Homicide, it wasn’t a one-off match, even though he had remarkable ones with Jamie Nobile and AJ Styles. Homicide, when he stepped into the ring, gave New Yorkers hope that nothing was impossible. Pouring their heart and soul into this sport and giving it their all, they could achieve anything. He always fought with the spirit of a New Yorker.

“I hold a slight bias, yes. But I’m also partial because I want people to recognize Homicide for the inspiration he has been to many of us and the careers he has shaped. You can check with Samoa Joe, Bryan, Cabana, and everyone who was either a prominent talent or a future world champion, they all had to tackle Homicide. Lastly, what makes me really biased — and he’s going to hate hearing this — is that he’s not just a mentor to me, he’s like a guardian angel. He has a knack for calling at the perfect moment, saying ‘I had a feeling, I had to call you.’ So, I urge everyone to relish this ‘Best Of’ as much as I relished watching Terry Funk, Kawasaki, Kobashi, Taue, Masawa, and the Three Musketeers of New Japan, among others. Put Homicide on your watchlist, and appreciate his work. Congratulations on your retirement. We are both admirers of Terry Funk, so I know this retirement might not be the end. But, for now, happy retirement and gratitude from everyone. Thank you.”
