At the D23 event on a recent Friday evening, a pleasant surprise waited for the audience as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson unexpectedly unveiled a new trailer for the Disney production, ‘Moana 2’, an animistic motion picture. This film is set to debut in America on the 27th of November, 2024, following the previous success of the initial ‘Moana’ in 2016. Johnson plays a pivotal role in a real-world adaptation of Moana slated to be showcased in July 2026.
‘Moana 2′ storyline begins three years post the events of the original film, featuring Moana and Maui setting out on an unfamiliar expedition, joined by an unlikely team of sailors. Motivated by her seafaring ancestors’ call, Moana undertakes a journey to Oceania’s distant and perilous seas and into uncharted waters which hints at an extraordinary adventure.
Triple-directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, the cinematic piece stars Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as Maui. Making their return to the “Moana” world are Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Scherzinger, playing Moana’s Grandma, Tala; Moana’s father, Chief Tui; and Moana’s mother, Sina, respectively. Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo have parts as Moni, Kele, and Loto.
