Professional wrestler Yuya Uemura has been forced to retire from the NJPW G1 Climax 34 due to an injury that followed his Friday performance.

NJPW shared an update today, indicating that Uemura’s injury is severe enough to prevent him from continuing his participation in the tournament.

Refer to the announcement beneath:

“Yuya Uemura injured; pulls out of G1 Climax 34.

Our sincere thanks for your continuous support for New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

During his match against Yota Tsuji in Sendai on August 9, Yuya Uemura incurred an injury on his right arm. After a thorough examination by the NJPW medical team, it was decided that Uemura should not participate in the remaining part of the tournament.

We express our sorrow to our fans expecting to witness Uemura compete, and are grateful for your understanding.

Uemura’s campaign will conclude with a total of eight points. The upcoming league match against Boltin Oleg on August 14 will be surrendered, resulting in Boltin totaling his campaign on eight points. Also, the dual match scheduled for August 12 against Toru Yano and Boltin Oleg featuring Uemura and TAKA Michinoku has been called off.

Uemura’s injury is currently under assessment, with no decisive timeline for his return. NJPW extends its warm wishes for Uemura’s rapid and complete recovery.”
