Drew McIntyre’s problems with both his pay and creative direction could see the former WWE Champion leave the company within the next 12 months.

Last week, it was reported that McIntyre’s contract with WWE is due to expire over the next year and that the two sides are nowhere close to a new deal being reached.

In an update from Wade Keller of “PW Torch,” it is reported that the Scottish Superstar has issues with his current position in WWE. He said,

“There’s been talk that he is unhappy with his current situation in WWE and I’m hearing it’s kind of a mix of creative and money and what kind of offer he’s getting for a renewal. It sounds like WWE is taking seriously the possibility that he is going to let his deal run out rather than agree to something that he believes is less than he deserves or less than he what he thinks he has coming.”

McIntyre was pulled from this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown due to an illness.

McIntyre’s most recent match saw him face Intercontinental Champion Gunther and Sheamus in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 39.
