In 2024, Drew McIntyre had an extraordinary stint, beginning with his triumph against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, shortly afterwards, he lost the title to Damian Priest, which spurred a fiery rivalry with CM Punk.
McIntyre hasn’t been in the possession of a title since then, yet it’s predicted he’ll enter into a conflict with Priest, culminating in a confrontation at WrestleMania 41.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter unveiled that WWE had initial plans for McIntyre to clash with Cody Rhodes, the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, after WrestleMania 40.
Nonetheless, McIntyre’s path in WWE may alter if John Cena manages to snatch the Undisputed WWE Championship from Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
The report highlights, “Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre (McIntyre had originally switched to SmackDown for a title match series with Rhodes, but if Rhodes loses, then all plans disintegrate as I don’t envision them pitting Cena against McIntyre) and Naomi vs. Jade Cargill were all speculated, appeared probable post-Elimination Chamber, and were heavily promoted on TV this week.”
