In a sit-down with Sam Roberts on the eve of WWE SummerSlam 2024, Drew McIntyre opened up about his current animosity with fellow WWE superstar CM Punk. According to McIntyre, the tension between the two can be traced back to their early days in WWE, claiming that Punk saw him as a rival and inhibited his chances for opportunities in the company.
McIntyre shared, “It goes back to my first run in WWE. I’ve alluded to certain things constantly. I’ve still not told those stories, maybe I won’t, but there are feelings that go back that far. There are opportunities that were prevented directly involving Punk, and I know he saw me as a threat when I was younger, he adversely affected my momentum. I won’t go into details right now, maybe we’ll cover it on the show eventually, maybe I’ll talk about it eventually, but those feelings are very real, that’s why it feels real.”
Reportedly, music artist Jelly Roll, who kicked off WWE SummerSlam 2024 with his renditions of “America The Beautiful” and his song “Liar,” also stated that he has some “unfinished business” within WWE. He foiled Austin Theory and Grayson Waller’s plans during the show.
He shared his SummerSlam 2024 experience on “The Pat McAfee Show” podcast. Some highlights from the broadcast are as follows:
Talking about his segment with A-town Down Under he said, “It felt so good. I can’t quit watching this clip. I never watch back interviews or shows, but I’ve watched this clip.”
Addressing the possibility of making another appearance at WWE, he expressed, “I have to by next year. I have unfinished business in the WWE.”
