Tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW opened with MVP and Bobby Lashley celebrating Lashley’s WWE Championship defense at WrestleMania Backlash. MVP also issued an open challenge on behalf of Lashley, to which Drew McIntyre initially accepted.

However, once in the ring, McIntyre was told by MVP that the challenge wouldn’t be open to himself nor Braun Strowman. McIntyre didn’t seem to care too much, and instead assaulted Lashley, sending him over the ropes and out of the ring. Later in the night, Lashley’s challenge was finally answered by none other than Kofi Kingston. The former WWE Champion was quick to make his way down to the ring and try his luck against Lashley for the title.

Unfortunately for Kingston, MVP quickly stepped in to say that the match wouldn’t be for the title, as Kingston didn’t deserve to even be in the same ring as Lashley. Almost immediately, Kingston was hit with a massive spinebuster from Lashley, but managed to shock his opponent and kick out of it. From there, Kofi came to life, getting out of a vertical suplex attempt from Lashley and hitting him with a handful of kicks to the head before sending him out of the ring and diving over the ropes onto him.

As the match continued, both superstars flashed some impressive skill in keeping things alive, including Kofi once again using Xavier Woods and his trombone to his advantage. Towards the end of the match, Woods even got involved by helping pull Kingston off of Lashley outside of the ring, which caused the referee to eject him from ringside and get into an argument. As they argued, Lashley attempted to have MVP hit Kingston with his cane, but McIntyre appeared out of nowhere, grabbing the cane from Lashley and hitting him in the stomach with it.

A dazed Lashley fell back into the ring, where Kofi quickly pinned him for the shocking win. Lashley and MVP were enraged, but McIntyre, Woods, and Kingston all celebrated outside of the ring, with the trio laughing at the turn of events.
