In a recent revelation, Drew McIntyre verified the rumors of him exiting the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble arena in a huff, following his elimination. However, he offered some explanation behind his behavior.
After entering the rumble at the 17th spot and staying in the fight for over 26 minutes, McIntyre was ousted by Damian Priest. His abrupt departure from the venue was reportedly due to his frustration over someone “needing to get their moves in,” thereby disrupting a planned elimination— the speculated candidate being LA Knight.
In his conversation on the “Getting Over” podcast, McIntyre confessed to feeling angry but decided to exit the arena to prevent any unprofessional behavior. He emphasized the need to cool off, assess the situation and gather all details before reacting, particularly when disrespected or in face of a possibly selfish act in the ring.
Addressing Damian Priest’s humorous remarks about the incident, he mentioned taking them in his stride. Their feud is expected to proceed at WrestleMania 41, where McIntyre is slated to go head to head with Priest, in what is shaping up to be one of the event’s most personal duels.
McIntyre commented, “Not all the details are accurate, but yeah, I was fuming, and I let everybody know what I thought, and then I left. Because I’ve learned as an adult nothing good happens when you’re highly emotional. So just calm down, get the facts, then deal with it. I don’t want to punch somebody in the head and be unprofessional and then find out facts later I didn’t know about. It was the grown-up thing to do.”
He further added, “Often, things are not as they seem, and it’s vital to gather all the facts and compose oneself. Priest pokes fun at it, like ‘Drew grumbles all the time. He’s always fleeing the building,’ and my response was, ‘Give me a break, buddy, it’s happened a handful of times over the years.’ Considering my Scottish roots and innate anger issues, it’s not too shabby.”
