The famous WWE superstar, Drew McIntyre, recently shared some insights in an interview with Inside The Ropes to generate some buzz around today’s WWE Clash at the Castle event.
During the conversation, McIntyre delved into his revived main event status. Today, he is set to contest against Damian Priest for the enviable WWE World Heavyweight Title at PLE.
“In my opinion, that’s the way it should always be, but gaining that level of ease can often take time. Maybe that could be for some individuals, or it could be somewhat the norm for most since there’s a need to stay within the story’s framework. On a TV show, you have specific time slots to meet, you can’t just head out there and babble for 45 minutes, you need to meet those timeframes. However, those who understand their role and know what they’re doing should have that extra bit of leeway to engage with the crowd. If things don’t feel right, one should have the liberty to change the course of action. After all, if the crowd isn’t responsive, what’s the point? However, this should also come with a sense of responsibility to remain within the story’s and character’s perimeters. It is this freedom that helped me thrive during my stint outside the company. With Impact, there were certain guidelines, whereas ICW practically had no script. I led with my intuition which eventually led to my success outside the company. As I came back, I was the most authentic version of myself which resulted in a couple of world titles. Presently, what the audience witnesses is the same Drew from outside WWE. Raw, genuine, putting forth everything I truly experience inwardly, my performances are rooted in candid emotions, so when it seems real, it indeed is.”
