Drake Maverick On Proving Himself As A Competitor

Drave Maverick appeared on Wednesday’s edition of WWE’s The Bump, where he discussed his run in the NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. Here are some highlights:

On proving himself as an in-ring competitor:

Maverick: “I think there’s still more to give and there’s still more to show. I mean, you’ve seen me literally scrape by, and I have scraped by because Tony Nese, Jake atlas, Kushida, everybody in group A is just, Tony’s a former Cruiserweight Champion, I’m even leaving him out, and it’s just a case of, I think there’s more to give and I’m gonna leave it all out there tonight because, this is cliche, I’m shooting for the moon. We’re right here now, I have the Cruiserweight Championship in my hands, and I could either win it or lose it, I could continue on with my WWE career or I could lose it all. And you know what, with what I’ve done in the ring so far, I’m happy with, but there’s more to give and wherever that may be, there’s so much more to give here.

On his match with El Hijo Del Fantasma:

Maverick: “It’s got to the point where I’ve got to the biggest day of my career, and I’m not feeling any pressure. I don’t think that will make any sense to anybody, I just feel no pressure at all. Like, today could be the absolute best day I’ve ever had in my life or it could be the worst day, and I’m fine with it. I’m really fine with it. It really is a case of whatever happens, whatever happens today, I’m good with it because this has been the weirdest time, man, and that’s what I’m most excited about. I don’t know what’s gonna happen today, all I know is that I’ve put my absolute all out there in front of everybody.

Ric Flair Appears On WWE’s The Bump

Ric Flair also appeared on Wednesday’s episode of WWE’s The Bump. He reflected on his career and doubled-down on his claim that Randy Orton is the best performer in the industry today. Flair also shared his thoughts on how important respect is:

Ric Flair: “We don’t have a diploma necessarily, I mean a college diploma, a lot of kids have that, don’t misunderstand me. But I don’t have a college diploma, I don’t have a degree, I don’t have a plaque that says I practice law, I don’t have one that says I practice medicine, I have a bunch of pictures and stuff like that, and Wendy has built a beautiful room for me which I’ve never had before because I didn’t, you know, I didn’t take the time, well I’m not gonna say, other people didn’t take the time and didn’t care so I’ll just say it like that.”

“We don’t have all this stuff to hang shingles and all that so at the end of the day, all you have is like the respect that I seem to have from you three or four that I’ve seen today and your peers.”
