Drake Maverick Loses Cruiserweight Tournament Match To Jake Atlas

Despite having been released from his contract with WWE, Drake Maverick is still taking part in the NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament. Unfortunately for him, he lost his first match, as he wasn’t able to capitalize on the early momentum he built against Jake Atlas.
After looking like he’d come away with a big win, Atlas was able to flip the momentum and come away with a win. Maverick still has a chance to progress in the tournament, however, as he still has two matches left, against Kushida and Tony Nese. Check out below for a brief recap on how the match ended:
Atlas works a reverse bearhug. Maverick escapes and narrowly avoids a running shoulder block by Atlas. Atlas crashes into the ring post. Maverick dropkicks Atlas in the knee. Missile dropkick off the top by Maverick. Maverick locks Atlas in the Tequilla Sunrise. Atlas gets to the ropes. Atlas rolls out of the ring. Suicide dive by Maverick. Maverick drops a big elbow off the top. Atlas kicks out. Maverick sets up sliced bread # 2. Atlas counters and drops Maverick with a superkick. Atlas hits a cartwheel DDT for the win.
