In a recent backstage interaction at the NJPW Super Jr. Tag League 2024 event, DOUKI articulated his ambition to confront Sammy Guevara at the NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty scheduled for January 2025.
DOUKI expressed boldly, “While Taiji Ishimori has made it clear his choice is Darby Allin, I would cherish an opportunity to go head-to-head with Sammy Guevara.”
Brett Lauderdale, GCW promotor, discussed the unique dimensions of the promotion vis-à-vis other independent wrestling enterprises, during a recent chat with the “Asbury Park Press.”
Highlights from the interview include:
Reflecting on GCW’s Uniqueness: “Our approach sets us apart from other independent shows or televised events. We aren’t confined by scripts, but rather have our own unique rhythm and methodology. Our more relaxed approach to the ebb and flow of a show makes it highly stimulating. We create our own rules and guidelines, permitting our events and characters to truly resonate with our audience. It all culminates in an incredibly enjoyable shared experience.”
On the upcoming event at the American Dream Mall: “The mall setting is quite unique and conforms to our penchant for trying different things. With people watching from all three levels of the mall and tickets almost sold out, we expect an electrifying atmosphere. I’ve been eyeing this location for a few years and now, finally, it’s happening. Abiding by the historical resonance of such a venue, I expect our wrestlers to be particularly animated.”
Talking about ex-GCW competitors who have attained success elsewhere: “We have a knack for scouting diamonds in the rough, or burgeoning talents. Our strategy is to put them in their best position to succeed, playing to their strengths. This not only endears them to the crowd, but also enables them to excel at what they do best. Our track record of helping budding talents rise speaks for itself – just look at those who’ve made it to the AEW. We offer a platform unlike any other independent promotion, which is why top-tier companies have their eyes on us.”
