Back in the year 2007, an intriguing incident involving Vince McMahon caught the public’s attention when on-screen, McMahon was portrayed as “killed” in a staged limousine explosion event.
The storyline had to be abruptly cancelled due to the tragic incident of the Chris Benoit murder-suicide which occurred only weeks after this. Shockingly, this “death” of McMahon led to a phone call made to Vince by none other than Donald Trump, the former President and convicted felon. Trump was personally inquiring about the well-being of his long-time friend after seeing the staged episode.
During Netflix’s docuseries titled “Mr. McMahon,” Brian Gewirtz, who previously held the position as the chief writer for WWE, disclosed that Trump had reached out to WWE to see if McMahon was unharmed.
McMahon spoke about the event saying, “The edit was perfect. Many individuals called the office, ‘Is Vince okay?’”
Gewirtz further explained, “Vince wanted to treat it like real life. The site treated it like it was real. The announcers were somber. In fact, from what I’ve heard, Donald Trump called up Vince’s office to make sure Vince was okay. That became a controversial storyline. Certain tragic circumstances in real life happened that forced us to stop that storyline.”
