The day has finally arrived, Will Ospreay has formally and irrevocably parted ways with The Don Callis Family, as announced on AEW Dynamite’s July 3, 2024 episode.

Over the recent months, Ospreay has been gradually distancing himself from Callis in a variety of ways like seldom teaming up with his stable members and refraining from participating in their nefarious endeavors. This became more evident during Ospreay’s latest pay-per-view fights, especially when he was reluctant to follow Callis’s persuasion for invoking more wicked tactics, such as using a screwdriver on Swerve Strickland in AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door.

An interview segment with Renee Paquette in today’s Beach Break episode of Dynamite shed light on this matter.

Ospreay expressed his gratitude to Callis for his mentorship and assistance over the years, but straightforwardly requested to bereleased from his contract with the group.

After contemplating for a moment, Callis agreed to Ospreay’s request. He conceded that it was unusual for him to do so, but he was fine with doing him this one favor. Interestingly, he added a menacing twist that perhaps, one day, he would ask for a favor in return.

As it’s widely known, whenever a person with ill-repute who holds power implies that they might require a favor in the future, it’s rarely anything good. Ospreay will undoubtedly find himself faced with a difficult choice when Callis calls for the repayment of the favor.

Also remarkable to note was Kyle Fletcher, who stood silently between the two during the exchange. The only indication of his presence was when he left with Callis, but not before acknowledging Ospreay with a look and a nod that might resurface at some point later.
