Dominik Mysterio has plans to become Intercontinental Champion and is willing to use some underhanded methods to take the title from Gunther.
In his near-three-years as a WWE Superstar, Mysterio has only had one championship reign; holding the SmackDown Tag Team Titles with his father in 2021.
In an interview with “G Moiny,” Mysterio spoke about wanting to hold more gold but feels he may not be able to take the title from Gunther in a singles match. He said,
“I would love to hold some titles, whether it’s singles gold or tag team gold. Finn [Balor] and Damien [Priest] just beat the Undisputed Tag Team Champions in Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, so there’s definitely a shot there.
“I don’t know if I could take him [Gunther] one on one, but if we can get a triple threat match going… somewhere where I can sneak into victory… Maybe. I don’t know. Who knows what the future has in store for ex-con Dom, but we’ll see.”
Mysterio went on to recall taking one of Gunther’s chops during the Men’s Royal Rumble match, and it is an experience he does not want to relive.
Gunther will defend the Intercontinental Championship this week at WWE Night of Champions against Mustafa Ali.
