Dominik Mysterio recently appeared as a guest on the “No Contest Wrestling” podcast and took time to look back on his WrestleMania 39 match up against his own father, wrestling industry legend Rey Mysterio. A significant but little-known fact emerged during the interview – Dominik was advised against interacting with his family members who were attending the event.
Here’s an excerpt from the podcast conversation:
When the family ringside situation was brought up, Dominik revealed, “Just prior to WrestleMania 39, a certain individual asked me to keep my distance from my family in the front row. The details were fuzzy as to how strictly I should follow the mandate. I even asked for clarification seeing that there were times my mother aimed to slap me. I played along and stirred the pot a little.”
Regarding tossing water into his sister’s face, Dominik recalled, “The match had just started when I noticed my not-so-acumen sister Aalyah, holding her conspicuous red cup. It stood out, practically begging itself for a slap or a toss. Initially, I thought of having a sip, but the water level was low. And a wicked idea crossed my mind, ‘Why not splash it on her face?’ Rationally, she couldn’t retaliate. Going over the rails would count as assault, and she could have either faced a repercussion from me or even security. She was asking for it.”
