In a recent exchange with TUDUM by Netflix, WWE Superstar Dominik Mysterio shared about the negative feedback he routinely gets from fans, his love for portraying the villain, among other topics.

The following are excerpts from the interview:

On the response he elicits from the audience: “I understood that this was something unique. I managed to deliver promos, but after Mania, I was incessantly heckled. I was barely able to utter a word. The fact that I continue to get such reactions is honestly mind-boggling.”

On his preference for playing the villain: “There’s a certain thrill in playing the antagonist. It provides more freedom in terms of my actions, speech, and what I can get away with. I feel like it allows me to push the envelope a bit more. It may sound terrible, but when I see kids with their fathers at events, I can’t help but taunt them, ‘Is he your dad? Probably just as worthless.’ So it’s a lot more entertaining than being a hero. Having seen my father play the hero my entire life, I wanted to take the Mysterio name in a different direction.”

On the wrestlers he yearns to challenge this year: “CM Punk. When I was 12, he sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to my sister in the ring during his playful escapades. Presently, I stand at 6’1, weighing 200 pounds, and much taller than he is. I would love to see him try those antics on me now. I believe there’s some lingering animosity with Seth [Rollins]. He took advantage of my novice status when I debuted. ‘Dirty’ Dom won’t let that slide.”

Reflecting on his early days under his father’s guidance: “Having him around during the initial phase was like having a shortcut to success. With over three decades in this business, his ringside presence during my first few bouts provided invaluable guidance – instructing me on what to do, and how to do it. His mentorship played a critical role in my in-ring development. However, breaking away from his shadow and realizing my independent potential was a game-changer, akin to taking off the training wheels from a bike. Once I learned to do without them, there was no looking back.”

The Northeast Wrestling’s Wrestlefest event will witness the reunion of Breezango on May 10, 2025.
