Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced plans to reopen the state of Georgia but one person who is still waiting things out is Diamond Dallas Page.

DDP was a guest on Anderson Cooper 360º and explained that his DDPY Performance Center in Smyrna, Georgia is remaining closed because he wants to see more changes during the current coronavirus pandemic. Page explained that other people might not be as lucky, noting that he’s seen a boost in online sales of his digital products, but feels that we need to err on the side of caution until more changes are made.

“My DDPYoga company—an app, DVDs—if anything, that’s booming right now. I’m in a much better position than people—gyms—and I’m going to err on the side of caution because first of all, I’m 64. I definitely don’t want to be out there working with people or put my hands on people. I’m going to do what I’ve been doing since this all hit the fan.”

Cooper asked when the right time is to consider reopening and DDP, who voted for Kemp, said he understands why the Governor is doing it, but the Metro Atlanta area is a completely different situation from the rest of the state that might not need to take as much caution.

“Like I said, I did vote for Kemp. He’s a good man and I know he’s just trying to get people back to work. When he said Georgia… Georgia is a really rural state. There are probably some areas that only have 1-2 cases. Atlanta is a much different avenue because there’s so many people here, and I have to see something change. There’s no vaccine, there’s been no cure, we don’t really know where it’s going to go.

I’m looking at when it starts to change. I’ll give you an example—you look at something like Blockbuster. At one time, Blockbuster ruled when it came to movies, then Netflix came, streaming came and Blockbuster was a memory. I believe the gym business is going to have to change the way they do business moving forward. I know for sure that when I open at some point I will be changing the way I do things.”
