In a recent conversation with Dexerto, Deonna Purrazzo, a prominent AEW wrestler, shared her thoughts on Tony Khan’s potential plans to introduce women’s tag team titles in the wrestling industry.
The highlights of this engaging podcast are as follows:
On the introduction of Women’s tag team titles in AEW: Deonna discusses, “I believe Women’s Tag Titles pose a unique challenge. It often happens that women wrestlers are clubbed together into a team, which can feel a bit unoriginal. But if AEW takes the leap and introduces Women’s Tag Titles, it could open up a treasure trove of opportunities for us. However, an integral caveat must be the development of a compelling narrative. We should be allowed to tell stories, to help the audience comprehend why a particular duo is collaborating.”
She further elaborated on her desire for the tag titles to be rooted in deeper storylines, “We recently saw the duo of Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander in action, prior to when the world’s most notorious haters turned against the former TBS champ. In scenarios like these, the audience gets a clear idea of their team dynamics, their camaraderie, the reasons why they have each other’s back. If the idea of Tag Titles is to be made a reality, we must have several such teams with similar chemistry. I’m not vehemently against the concept, but I firmly believe such a division requires substantial investment and extensive storytelling.”
