In a recent conversation with Stephanie Chase, professional wrestler Deonna Purrazzo confessed her hesitations about making a return to WWE, having previously been associated with the WWE NXT brand. Following her exit from WWE, Purrazzo’s career took her through TNA Wrestling before she finally landed in AEW.
Purrazzo discussed her career choices, saying, “A few weeks before my contract ended, I found myself in discussions with various people, including Triple H and William Regal, and of course, Tony Khan. My objective was to figure out the best path forward for my career. Before my first stint with NXT, I had plans to participate in All In, return to Japan and other exciting opportunities. However, I decided to forego these for NXT, which unfortunately didn’t work out as hoped. That left me with a bitter taste and apprehensive about going back into the same environment. I wanted to steer clear of such situations. At the time, I felt the trust wasn’t there, and I didn’t want to jeopardize the promising opportunity that AEW was offering. Looking back, I could have been part of AEW from the start if I hadn’t joined NXT; I could have been here for almost six years. The fear of giving up something amazing for something uncertain certainly played on my mind.”
An interesting video recently revealed by the WWE Vault YouTube channel showcases a 2016 bout from WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic between AEW wrestler Kota Ibushi and Cedric Alexander. You can find the footage below:
