On the “SHAK Wrestling” podcast, Dean Muhtadi, better known as former WWE superstar Mojo Rawley, shared insights on how allowing WWE talents to perform in venues outside the company would be beneficial to WWE as an organization.
Recently, WWE has been adopting a more flexible stance regarding its star performers accepting bookings from external wrestling promotions, with some even set to compete at the upcoming event, Bloodsport XIII.
Muhtadi shed light on the matter saying, “On a person-to-person basis, especially in the case of a long-time WWE veteran like Natalya who has a powerful presence and has facilitated and uplifted so many new talents to reach star status, more negotiation power is likely to be given. They’ve earned it and therefore can exploit it, depending on certain opportunities. There’s been both upgrades and downgrades, but ultimately, it entirely rests on the wrestler.
A significant implication here relates to the ability of these talents to perform elsewhere. I completely comprehend WWE’s viewpoint wherein if you’re a WWE wrestler, you shouldn’t be wrestling anywhere else. That makes sense. However, curbing them from venturing into other prospects gets problematic. As long as it doesn’t interfere with your primary responsibilities and commitments at WWE like Monday Night Raw, which is what enables you to pay your bills, exploring additional opportunities should be allowed.
I hope to see WWE being more accepting of their talents growing their brand outside the company. It benefits everyone involved to expand the fanbase and draw newer audiences. Letting these talents earn more revenue independently also ensures keeping the financial resources circulating within WWE, benefiting other wrestlers. The likes of Cena and The Rock are a testament to how wrestlers can balance their careers with commercials and other appearances. The result is beneficial for everyone, including their co-workers and competitors.”
In other news, according to Pwinsider, former WWE superstar Daria Berenato, also known as Sonya Deville, is set to make an appearance at Invicta 61 this Friday night in Shawnee, Oklahoma, which will be hosted at the Grand Hotel & Casino. A former MMA fighter, Berenato holds a 2-1 record. Moose, the TNA X Division Champion, is also expected to participate in the event.
