David Benoit Talks His Father’s Murder-Suicide, Wanting To Perform As Chris Benoit Jr.
Chris Benoit’s 27-year-old son David Benoit recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet to talk about his future in pro wrestling and to discuss his father’s tragic murder-suicide that saw the WWE star murder his wife Nancy and seven-year-old son Daniel.
Benoit said that he doesn’t believe his father could have committed the crime he did if it wasn’t due to brain damage. “That wasn’t him,” said Benoit of his father. “I think something went terribly wrong. The doctor said he had CTE. At the beginning that somewhat gave me closure.”
As far as his wrestling future, Benoit wants to compete under the name Chris Benoit Jr. He says that he doesn’t have the rights to his father’s name yet, but he has father’s middle name. He also discussed his wardrobe as he has tights with the claw on it that look like his father’s gear, and white and blue variants already made.
