Although Nic Nemeth currently holds the title of TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Joe Hendry insists that he is the true poster boy of the promotion.

Hendry’s appeal among wrestling fans has seen a major surge in the past few months. Besides his matches for TNA, he has also been a regular presence on WWE NXT.

In a recent episode of the podcast “Sports Guys Talk Wrestling,” Hendry discussed his ambitions in TNA and his high self-regard. He asserted,

“I regard myself as the face of TNA Wrestling. I don’t need to have self-belief in this matter, all you need to do is sift through the metrics or make use of Google Trends to determine who really represents TNA Wrestling. It’s definitely me. Hence, the logical next step would be for me to vie for the TNA World Championship. I need to strategize and position myself for the number one contendership and then claim what rightfully belongs to me.”

“John Cena once advised Cody Rhodes that in the absence of a title, you need to act and perform like a champion. Well, I am a champion without the belt and it’s about time I became the champion with the belt.”

Interestingly, Hendry was one of the six men battling for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary 2024 where Nemeth emerged victorious.

Hendry has been on a roll with his wins this week. On WWE NXT, he triumphed over Joe Coffey of Gallus while, on the latest TNA Impact episode on AXS TV, he bested Wolfgang, another member of the Gallus team.
