In a recent guest spot on the “Down Under The Ring” podcast, Darby Allin discussed his perceived lack of haste in completing the wrestling training of Steven Borden.
Starting his journey into professional wrestling this year, Borden, who is the son of legendary wrestler, Sting, made his debut at AEW Revolution 2024.
Addressing the matter, Allin shared, “Steven, Sting’s son, is heavily into his training currently. It’s quite a legacy to follow, isn’t it? Time plays a critical role here. Rushing into the ring could lead to people suggesting favoritism, given Sting’s stature. Ideally, we want everyone to acknowledge that Steven has earned his place in the ring when he makes his debut.”
In another news, wrestling veteran Kenny Omega, in an interview with NJPW1972.com, proposed a match with Gabe Kidd at the NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty 2025, making it his awaited return to the ring after a year’s hiatus.
Sidelined due to diverticulitis, Omega’s most recent bout was with Ethan Page on an episode of AEW Collision aired on December 5, 2023.
Answering Omega’s challenge, Kidd took to Twitter and accepted it, sealing the match for the January 5th pay-per-view event.
He tweeted, “You’re a real coward, @KennyOmegamanX. Brace yourself & get ready with your prescribed medications from Dr Hayashi. You’ll certainly need them, considering how ruthlessly I’m going to take you down — you’ll wish your stomach illness was lethal.”
