Darby Allin, one of AEW’s well-regarded talents, remains undeterred to scale the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest in spite of an injury that put his daring plan on hold earlier this year.
Allin, who initially planned to undertake the Everest climb during the summer, had to postpone due to a broken foot injury that he incurred in a match on Dynamite. He has however returned to the ring and resumed wrestling.
At the launch event of AEW All In: Texas, he spoke about his postponed plan to conquer Everest. He said,
“This company gives me so much. They let me do what I want to do in the ring and they let me do what I want to do in my personal life. I am climbing Mount Everest in April and I am gonna’ take that AEW flag and I’m gonna plant it on top of the world and remind everyone what I’m capable of.”
The attempt by Allin to scale Mount Everest is no less than a massive gamble, considering at least 322 mountaineers have lost their lives on the colossal mountain so far, according to the records maintained in Himalayan database.
Thanks to the inherent risks, bodies of those who lost their lives in mountaineering adventures remain frozen in time and in their final resting place on Everest. They serve as a poignant tribute to those mountaineers’ daredevil spirit, and as a stark warning of the ruthless power of nature.
‘Rainbow Valley,’ a portion of the mountain, owes its name to the colorful thermal attire of the deceased climbers who remain there.
