Former WWE NXT Superstar Danny Burch has said that he felt relieved when he was cut from the promotion for the first time.
In 2011, Burch signed a developmental contract with WWE and made his NXT debut on the May 15, 2013 episode in a loss to Bray Wyatt.
Burch was released in April 2014, which as he explained on the “Undisputed Podcast,” was something of a relief. He said,
“It just wasn’t working. Because of my mindset and how unhappy I was… I was relieved [it was over].”
Burch added that his negative experiences with WWE’s developmental program made him question his entire future as a wrestler. He said,
“At that point, I was so unhappy, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I even want to do this anymore.’”
Burch would continue wrestling and would return to WWE in 2015 and compete on both WWE NXT and NXT UK.
His second run with WWE ended in January 2022, and he is a former NXT Tag Team Champion (with Oney Lorcan.)
