Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier almost got involved in a WWE angle.

In a discussion with BT Sport, Cormier revealed that he was supposed to be at the press conference for Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez, but his schedule forced him to decline the opportunity. “DC” is the training partner of Velasquez, and infamously got into a shoving match with Lesnar inside the Octagon (although a fight never manifested). He also revealed that he had received an offer to work WWE Backstage, but his commitments with UFC’s broadcast partner ESPN made him turn it down. However, he feels like it’s only a matter of time until they work together.

"I've talked to WWE on a number of occasions, they want to work together"

"I had an offer to work #WWEBackstage on @WWEonFOX."@dc_mma LOVES this business and we hope we get to see him involved 🙌
