At WWE Elimination Chamber, Daniel Bryan faced Drew Gulak, who has targeted Bryan in recent weeks. Both men were evenly matched early on while they exchanged technical holds and submission holds. Gulak forced Bryan to take a moment to consider his game plan. Gulak briefly locked in Bryan’s classic surfboard stretch.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion gained the upper hand and rocked Bryan with some stiff chops. Bryan and Gulak both went crashing to the floor during a suplex to the outside. Gulak targeted Bryan’s neck throughout the match. Bryan hit a bridging dragon suplex for a two count. Gulak dumped Bryan right on his neck with a German suplex. Bryan rallied and dropped Gulak with a clothesline. Gulak hit a reverse superplex and locked in a Dragon Sleeper. Bryan countered it into the Yes Lock. Gulak passed out, so the referee declared Bryan the winner.
