Damien Sandow’s WWE career may not have reached the heights some had hoped for, but the ex-Superstar is fine with how things went.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Sandow addressed the belief among some that his career could have gone much further. He said,

“People say, ‘Like you should politick more.’ I never wanted to because — and that may have been my own ego to be like look, I try to be a decent human being, don’t do anything that’s going to embarrass the company, show up to work and let that speak for itself.”

He continued, “People say my career should have been this, it should have been that, everyone has their take on whatever. At the end of the day, my career was what it was, I made the choices I made and I stand by them. I’m fortunate enough to where I have developed this skill set that if I want a job in pro wrestling I can get one.”

Sandow won the 2013 SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match but failed in his cash-in attempt on John Cena.

Sandow was the first Superstar to be beaten clean in their cash-in attempt as Cena’s cash-in the prior year ended in a DQ.

Damien Sandow Reflects on His WWE Career and Choices Made

Former WWE Superstar Damien Sandow recently opened up about his career in the wrestling industry and expressed his contentment with the choices he made. While some fans and critics believe that Sandow’s career could have reached greater heights, he stands by his decisions and is satisfied with the path he took.

In a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Sandow addressed the notion that he should have engaged in more backstage politics to advance his career. However, he explained that he never wanted to resort to such tactics. Sandow believed in being a decent human being, avoiding actions that would embarrass the company, and letting his work speak for itself. He said, “I try to be a decent human being, don’t do anything that’s going to embarrass the company, show up to work and let that speak for itself.”

Sandow acknowledged that people have different opinions on what his career should have been, but he stands by the choices he made. He emphasized that he is fortunate enough to have developed a skill set that allows him to secure jobs in the pro wrestling industry whenever he desires. Sandow’s confidence in his abilities and his willingness to take responsibility for his career decisions demonstrate his self-assurance and satisfaction.

One notable moment in Sandow’s WWE career was his victory in the 2013 SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match. This win granted him an opportunity to cash in the contract for a championship match. However, when Sandow attempted to cash in on John Cena, he was unsuccessful, becoming the first Superstar to be defeated cleanly in a cash-in attempt. Cena’s previous cash-in had ended in a disqualification.

Despite this setback, Sandow’s resilience and positive outlook on his career are evident. He has chosen to focus on the opportunities he has created for himself rather than dwelling on missed chances. Sandow’s ability to adapt and his confidence in his skill set make him a valuable asset in the pro wrestling industry.

As Sandow continues to navigate his career, his story serves as a reminder that success is not solely determined by reaching the pinnacle of the industry. It is about making choices that align with one’s values and being content with the path taken. Damien Sandow’s journey in WWE may not have unfolded exactly as some fans had hoped, but he remains grateful for the opportunities he has had and the skills he has developed along the way.
