Damian Priest is aiming to make his reign as NXT North American Champion a long one, and it continued to go well tonight as the superstar took down Timothy Thatcher to retain his belt.
Thatcher and Priest have been feuding for quite a bit, but with Priest the champion now, the stakes were even higher when the two stepped into the ring for tonight’s NXT main event. Although Thatcher looked to have the upper hand early on, Priest ended things late with another dominating show of force. At the end of the match, Priest was able to get to the ropes after being locked in the Fujiwara Armbar, and proceeded to land a big spinning heel kick off the top rope onto Thatcher. The kick was more than enough to drop Thatcher for good, and Priest was able to successfully retain his hold on the belt.
