Curtis Axel, a known figure in the wrestling community, recently showed his support for his fellow wrestler, CM Punk. He stated that Punk is unfairly perceived in the industry.

During an interview on the podcast “Monte & The Pharaoh,” Axel touched on his relationship with Punk. He remarked that despite their fierce battles in various wrestling promotions, a sturdy friendship still persists between them.

Axel, who is a former Intercontinental Champion, feels that the negative opinions on Punk fail to acknowledge the constructive impact the experienced fighter has on others, himself included.

Axel expressed, “He does get a bad rap. He helped me out a lot. I’m friends with him. We’ve been allies. We’ve had intense fights all over the globe. He’s been nothing but an aid to me. I realize people might say he has a reputation due to his demeanor, but that’s necessary in this field. You’ve got to have this ‘don’t give a damn about anything’ attitude and just stick to your guns. If you lack self-belief and this ‘I’m superior to you’ mindset, you’ll end up failing. Punk has never lacked that. I hold immense respect for him. He’s assisted me. I would love to have another wrestling match with him. We’ve had some intense fights. We are both part of Heyman’s team.”

This commentary from Axel adds to the ongoing discourse about Punk’s contentious position in the wrestling universe. The remarks provide a distinct perspective on the veteran wrestler.
