Court Bauer: Vince McMahon Got ‘Really Hot’ When Donald Trump Wore A Padded Coat In The Ring

Former WWE writer Court Bauer is now the CEO of Major League Wrestling, but he still has plenty of stories about working with Vince McMahon. During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Bauer described the time that McMahon got angry with Donald Trump during their brief on-air program heading into WWE WrestleMania 23. Here are some highlights:
On Vince McMahon getting mad at Donald Trump’s padded jacket:
Bauer: Donald Trump was there doing the angle with Vince and one night they’re doing some sort of in ring deal with Trump and Vince and it was cold, the lead up to WrestleMania and Donald Trump has like that big winter jacket and he’s like 6’4’, something like that. He’s kind of a deceptively tall guy. So you know they’re doing a promo and Vince and him are going like face to face, the battle of billionaires thing goes down, and afterwards we’re in the limo and Vince is just livid. Like they get song great, there’s like that kindred spirit thing with them and everything but he felt like Donald had intentionally showed him up. He was like did you see that? He was wearing that jacket, clearly his shoulder pads were stuffed, he was trying to look bigger than me, it’s ridiculous. And he was like really hot about Trump trying to look bigger than him.
Chris Jericho also shared another celebrity interaction, when Vince McMahon called legendary UFC fighter Frank Shamrock a “midget”:
Jericho: “Vince [McMahon] is down there, we’re going over the punch at the end and finally when Mickey [Rourke] leaves with his encourage, I say to him like, ‘You know what was going to happen? He brought these guys here to attack me if there was a fight.’ He was like, ‘Those guys?’ He points and he goes, ‘That guy? That guy’s a midget.’ He’s pointing at [Frank] Shamrock. ‘What’s that midget gonna do?’ He said, ‘You, me, [Dave] Finlay and [Dean] Malenko, we’ll kick their a—-. And I said, ‘Well, let me tell you this, Vince. If something breaks out, I’ll take Mickey Rourke, and you take the midget.’ He goes, ‘You’re damn right I will.”
