Bobby Steveson, professionally known as Damon Kemp and the sibling of fellow professional wrestler Gable Steveson, has publicised his split from WWE. This news was unexpected, considering Kemp’s contract with WWE was only established in August 2021 and his career was showing promising growth. His sibling, Gable, had his contract terminated in May due to perceived issues regarding his wrestling performance.
Kemp’s exit from WWE was unique in that it was not attributed to a series of WWE dismissals but was the result of failing to renew his contract.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter discloses that Kemp’s separation from WWE has catalysed a wave of anxiety within the NXT performers, mainly those staring down the imminent renewal of their contracts.
In contrast to other recent WWE exits, such as those of Dijak, Gable, and Drew Gulak, Kemp was generally praised for his competent displays given his professional experience, with no negative critiques concerning his skill set.
The common consensus among his peers is encapsulated in the quote, “except for those who are clearly being pushed as future stars, many others do have the deal of if they would cut him, who else would they cut.”
