It is time for another week of the Ultimate Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW. Who improved their stock from last week and who downgraded their position among the rest?
This set ranges from Monday (October 16) and to Sunday (October 22). This means that all the results and highlights from this week’s Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite, SmackDown, AEW Rampage, and AEW Collision, as well as AEW’s special Battle of the Belts will play a factor in the rankings.
If a wrestler has a (+) next to their name, then that means that they moved up the rankings from last week’s edition. When there is a (-) next to their name, then that means that they moved down from the rankings from last week. If there is nothing next to their name, then that means that they stayed at the same spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into this week’s Power Rankings for WWE and AEW!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Drew McIntyre
The direction of McIntyre’s potential new character took another turn in the right direction, as Seth Rollins made fun of McIntyre’s whining and complaining. With this lone episode of Raw, this gave me real hope that maybe McIntyre will wall out of Crown Jewel with the World Heavyweight Championship.
9. Logan Paul (NR)
Paul is back, and this time, he is contending for the United States Championship. Just in time for the Saudi Arabia show, Paul will challenge Rey Mysterio for the title. Whilst the feud comes out of nowhere, Paul and Mysterio were very effective in building up this quick turnaround storyline on SmackDown this week, and it would not be the worst thing in the worst or entirely impossible if Paul were to become the new United States champ.
8. Shinsuke Nakamura (NR)
Nakamura got back on the winning track on Raw, just beating Ricochet in a fun Falls Count Anywhere match. Despite the win, Nakamura’s heel run, whilst good character work, has lacked in big victories. Hopefully this win her gives Nakamura the opportunity to further show himself in big-time feuds in the near future.
7. Seth Rollins (-1)
Rollins had a promo battle with his next challenger McIntyre on Raw. I like Rollins, I really do. However, things are becoming stale and Rollins really does need a bit of a freshen up. Not so much.a heel turn but hopefully a much more serious side of his babyface era.
6. Ilja Dragunov (-2)
Dragunov awaited his next opponent for his NXT Championship. Who will that be? Well that will be the former champion who he beat to win the title in the first place, Carmelo Hayes. Dragunov, most likely, will retain against Hayes in two weeks time at Halloween Havoc week two on Halloween night.
5. Becky Lynch
Speaking of new opponents, Lynch saw her next challenger for her NXT Women’s Championship pick up another win on NXT this week. Lynch, will defend her title against Lyra Valkyrie next week on the first Halloween Havoc. Whilst it wouldn’t be a total shock if Lynch lost her title, I’m still predicting a retainment and a future date with whoever wins the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.
4. Damage CTRL (+5)
IYO SKY collected another win over Charlotte Flair on SmackDown, successfully keeping her championship with help from Bayley of course. That’s not all though. After the match, both active members of Damage CTRL attacked Flair, before Bianca Belair came out to make her big return. Now, the title picture gets a little foggy as despite it being the same women in the scene, it’s unclear as to what direction WWE will go with Belair back in the mix. Not to mention, Jade Cargill is lurking in the shadows.
3. LA Knight (-1)
Knight had a solid promo segment with Paul Heyman on SmackDown, and despite him being super over and I’m sure his work will translate to the Saudi crowd, there is a 0% chance of Knight dethroning Roman Reigns’ historic reign.
2. Gunther (+5)
Add another great title match to the LONG list of Gunther’s historic run with the Intercontinental title. I truly do not know who is going to beat this man, but for the time being, let’s all just soak in his greatness.
1. The Judgment Day (+2)
The Judgment Day are once again the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. I wasn’t surprised, considering it was the “Raw Season Premiere,” but it does still feel like going backwards in any progression of the Damian Priest and Finn Balor saga. In other news, Rhea Ripley has her match scheduled for Crown Jewel, and it will be a Fatal 5-way match, stacking the odds against Mami.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Jon Moxley (NR)
Moxley is back and he made his return in a big way by helping out his BCC bros. It’s always to see Moxley back on our screens.
9. Ricky Starks and Big Bill (NR)
The AEW Tag Team Champions retained against Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta due to help by The House of Black. It was a good match and hopefully this first defense is a start of a solid reign.
8. House of Black (NR)
House of Black made their presence known all over Collision this week. Not only did they attack Bryan Danielson, but they attacked FTR and the rest of the BCC. Now, The House of Black has enemies are around and are back in the limelight of AEW TV.
7. Hikaru Shida (-2)
Coming off her big title win, Shida knocked off Emi Sakura in a non-title match on Dynamite. Now, Shida will turn her attention to facing Ruby Soho on next week’s Dynamite, Shida’s first real test in her third reign with the belt.
6. The Don Callis Family (-4)
The Don Callis Family were largely absent this week. However, momentum is still there for them to continue climbing the ranks.
5. Kris Statlander (+3)
Statlander remained the AEW TBS Champion, retaining over Willow Nightingale at Battle of the Belts in what was another good match between the two young stars. I don’t think this story between Statlander and Nightingale is over per say, but there’s a chance we see Statlander moving on to something different, maybe Toni Storm?
4. Bryan Danielson (-1)
Danielson continues to be a delight. On Collision, he defeated Andrade El Idolo in what was a great matchup. Not the “dream match” Tony Khan made it out to be, but definitely a great opener to the show. As for the rest of Collision, Danielson was attacked by the House of Black. He did however, get saving by a returning Jon Moxley. House of Black and a BCC feud is for sure something I can get behind, and a Malachi Black vs Danielson match in particular, will definitely be worth watching.
3. Orange Cassidy (+1)
The AEW International Champion retained against John Silver at Battle of the Belts. Cassidy winning the title back was probably not the plan once Rey Fenix (unexpectedly as well) became champion, but here we are. Cassidy is holding the belt and I’m slowly getting into the idea that I might want Cassidy to turn heel when he eventually goes up against Moxley again.
2. Christian Cage (-1)
This week, Cage spent the week mostly on the sidelines, though his story with Adam Copeland continued to grow with Copeland’s raw interview on Dynamite. You know a wrestler is killing the game when they’re barely on TV and you’re missing them.
1. Bullet Club Gold (+6)
Three wins, one for every member of Bullet Club Gold. First, Jay White defeated Penta El Zero Miedo on Dynamite, and then Juice Robinson finished off the show by winning the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal. With that win, Robinson will now take on AEW World Championship MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. As for The Gunns, they took home an easy tag team victory on Collision.
