The Packaging
This set features the Summer Slam 2020 style Elite packaging with the orange/white/blue/silver color scheme. The box showcases the featured wrestler on one side with their name on the opposite as well as a larger image, statistics and those whom also are in the set on the back.
Freddie Blassie is the Collector’s Edition in this set, meaning he is store exclusive to Walmart, as mentioned above, but I was unable to obtain him in time for this review.
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
The Fiend is easily the most sought after in this set as it’s his first official action figure in this gimmick. Mattel did all they could to get him out as quickly as possible knowing the demand would be high and they did a great job! Fiend has all of his crazy tattoo work, even his creepy face mask and his dreads. He comes with the head lantern and swappable hands. He unfortunately doesn’t come with his jacket since he was a rushed figure, but there is supposedly an Ultimate Edition of him coming later this year.
Overall, Fiend is a nice figure. His proportions are a little off to me as I feel his head should be a bit larger for the body, but regardless it’s not a huge issue. His new flat hand molds are really nicely done as you can see the “Hurt” and “Heal” logos on them. There is also an updated version surfacing with lighter hair color, which is a running change from Mattel. I happened to get the first version with darker hair. The lantern is nicely detailed, too, honestly, I just wish he had a jacket to complete his look.
If you want him be sure to order him anywhere offering him. He’s been on back order three times on Ringside already since he’s in such demand. Don’t miss any opportunity to get him as he will more than likely be the most sought after figure of 2020. If you’d like a jacket for him in the meantime you can pick up a great cloth one from Thread Head Custom Clothing.
Viscera
Viscera is by far an underrated figure of this series. This figure is fantastic as Mattel really nailed his look. His new head sculpt features an angry expression and he even has his black lipstick, which is awesome. His jacket is made of rubber, which does limit his posability, but it looks great nonetheless. He also has swappable hands and comes with the WWE Hardcore title belt.
Overall, Viscera may be my favorite figure of the set honestly. The detail is great. There’s a few things that bother me with him though. His arms seem a bit small for his body in my opinion and Mattel never painted his fingers on his closed fists, which is annoying as it looks like he’s wearing full gloves than finger-less ones. Besides those few things the figure is beautiful and so well done. I wish you could pose him more but it’ll have to do! Hopefully they explore his Big Daddy V gimmick soon, too, as that’ll be a nice figure!
Rick Rude
Rick Rude has two figures in this set, one being the Chase variant in yellow tights and pink boots. Both Rude figures are very nice and had classic collectors very excited for him. The problem with both figures though is that Mattel packaged him in his cloth robe, which looks great for mint on card collectors, but is a huge problem for loose collectors like myself. This robe is the original robe his very first Elite came with in the Legends line nearly ten years ago and the dye in the fabric stains the plastic. When you remove his robe you will more than likely see stains on his torso, arms and possibly even his legs. Sadly there’s no way to fix this as the dye seeps into the plastic.
Besides that major issue the figure is great as it’s a newer head sculpt with his long hair and his old school mustache. The logos and details on his tights are fantastically done, as his outfits were always very cool, and Mattel did a great job of capturing this. The Chase variant has the fully yellow tights with the title design on it across his crotch followed by his pink boots. He also comes with several pairs of swappable hands, which is great.
Overall, both figures look nice. It’s just really unfortunate about the staining. Mattel is aware of it and is supposedly working on fixing this. Perhaps if you get a later version it will not be an issue, but it’s definitely something to be aware of moving forward. I still recommend both as they did a great job capturing Rude in figure form.
Miss Elizabeth
This figure of Liz is also very well done. She has an all-new head scan that looks great. She comes in her vibrant yellow dress, which is made of cloth similar to her previous Elite figures. She even has her red floral fabric piece on her dress and even her arm gauntlets or however you would truly describe them. She has swappable hands and her finger nails are even painted, which is great. Not to mention she has her high heels, which look great, but can be a little tough to get her to stand well so be patient.
Overall, this updated figure of Liz is great. What is most interesting about this figure is that she is in her Mega Powers attire, which can only make us assume we will be getting a Mega Powers Hogan and Macho to go along with her now that Hogan is back in the works. We can only hope of course but I highly recommend this figure of Liz as it’s really nice!
AJ Styles
AJ has a ton of figures, much like Cena, Rollins and Reigns do, but this one is a nice update in my opinion. This one features his Club attire with the black and red designs that he would wear with Gallows and Anderson. I personally was excited for this one as I think this attire is sweet. His outfit is very detailed from the logos on his tights to the logos on his gloves and more. He comes with a rubber vest and a rubber shirt. The rubber shirt is a bit annoying as it fastens on the sides but once displayed it’s not that bad. He also comes with swappable hands, too.
Overall, this figure is great. You may be tired of seeing AJ in the line but he is very popular and a guy they want to make constantly. I really like this attire as mentioned and think Mattel did a nice job on it. The detail is great and the scan looks nice, too. Everything about the figure is nice honestly.
Ronda Rousey
Lastly, we have Ronda’s latest Elite figure and her first wrestling attire figure in the Elite line. I wanted her in this attire awhile back but have since lost interest since she left as well as the comments she supposedly made about the industry. All that aside I think Mattel did a great job capturing her. She has her “Black Swan” type eye makeup, which is a nice touch. Her hair is braided back as it’s a repaint of one of the heads her Ultimate came with. She features her black attire with a removable, rubber skirt. The skirt fastens okay for the most part, just be patient with it. Her attire underneath is nicely done as it’s black with the Rousey logos on it. She also comes with swappable hands with her gloves on and the RAW Women’s Championship.
Overall, Ronda is well done if you’re a fan. I think her legs are a bit thick in my opinion. I know she is toned but she looks thick to me. That’s my only real gripe with the figure otherwise I think they did a great job capturing her look. This could be her last figure so if you were a fan of her WWE run I’d recommend picking it up.
Overall
Overall, I like this set. The Summer Slam style packaging is great as the set truly stands out from others. The figures are all very well done honestly, too. Fiend is a great addition to the line as is Viscera. The biggest issue really with this set is the Rude staining issue, but hopefully Mattel will fix that as they said. Only time will tell, but if you want these figures be sure to pick them up over on Ringside as they are selling like hot cakes, Fiend especially. Don’t sleep on this set as it will probably be tough to come by once it hits stores!
