Cody Rhodes Talks AEW’s Second TNT Show, Adding Another Singles Belt

Cody Rhodes was on Wrestling Observer Radio and discussed some major changes to AEW down the line. He discussed the potential of adding a second singles belt and the future of AEW television as they add a second TV show.

Rhodes says that AEW haven’t had a long discussion with Warner Media on what the second show will be like and that they want to be experimental. Rhodes talked about Tony Khan wanting to do a show featuring younger talent and said that he has many ideas. He also dismissed it just being AEW Dark on a new channel. “I don’t think it’ll be like Dark. I think it’s gonna be its own animal, and we would want that. We would want to test ourselves.”

As far as a second singles belt being added, Rhodes talked about the company having plans. “I think we have an idea that’s different than anything that’s been done and I would just hope that everyone remains patient. Their yearning, their lust for that type of belt, I think will be satiated in 2020. Again, I’m not saying there’s a mid-card title, because if I was to say that there is a mid-card title coming to AEW, Nick Jackson would superkick my skull clean off my head. We’re moving slow. It’s something that the EVPs we all have to agree on, but there is a really great idea in gestation.”
