Cody Rhodes, in a discussion about his recent return to WWE, suggested he might have some flexibility in bending some rules. However, he asserted that interacting directly with the audience through camera is a speciality only of John Cena.
Rhodes has recently spoken to SPORTbible, where he commended Cena’s signature entry, which uniquely shatters the fourth wall. He accentuated that this is a distinct right of Cena, a renowned 16-time World Champion.
In Rhodes’ own words, “When I took a break and made my comeback, I had the freedom to bring back everything with me, coupled with the capability of breaking the conventionalism,”. He further added, “We no longer have the constraint of side-looking at monitors. Still, one considerable on-air rule, though it aids in production, is not to speak directly into the camera. That’s a specialty of John. John uniquely acknowledges the camera, mentions Stu, the cameraman, and then charges towards the ring.”
He made clear, “I don’t foresee anyone, inclusive of me, emulating that – although I might have done it at some point unintentionally. But that’s his trademark and that’s the reason it’s a rule – until someone overthrows him, it’s his.”
Rhodes is scheduled to face GUNTHER in the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel 2024, taking place on November 2 in Saudi Arabia.
