John Cena didn’t hold back in his criticism of Cody Rhodes during their recent on-screen dispute, raising questions about the authenticity of the WWE Champion’s approach.
Through the course of the recent WWE RAW episode, Cena questioned the genuineness of Rhodes, accusing him of relying on quick fixes and flashy stunts to garner popularity amongst fans.
Rhodes addressed this critique during an episode of the “Pardon My Take” podcast and admitted that Cena’s words made a significant impact on him. He stated,
“John Cena and I see things differently at a fundamental level – a disagreement we’ve had not just in front of the camera, but also backstage. He contends that I lack authenticity, or at least don’t possess the same level of it that he does. But in my view, I’ve proven my worth and am confident in my abilities. I’ve shown consistency.”
Cena and Rhodes are set to square off at WWE WrestleMania 41, where Cena aims to secure his 17th WWE World Championship.
Cena also expressed his intention to retire as WWE Champion, necessitating the introduction of a new championship to keep the competition alive, devoid of the existing title’s history.
