Cody Rhodes Retains TNT Championship, Jake Hager Knocks Out Referee

Jake Hager got another title shot in All Elite Wrestling and came up short again.

Early in the match there were some fun chain wrestling maneuvers as Cody Rhodes showed his technical wrestling ability against the D-1 collegiate wrestler and mixed martial artist. A frustrated Hager tried to attack Arn Anderson and this distraction turned the tides in the challenger’s favor. A scare came after Hager locked in a standing choke but Cody was able to fight out of it by hitting a stunner.

Rhodes would then hit a springboard stunner from the top rope but was unable to make the pin. He would then get thrown by Hager off the top rope for a near fall but the champ wasn’t about to give up just yet. The end finally came after Cody countered a head-and-arm choke and got the pin while Hager thought he was submitting his foe.
