Cody Rhodes says sometimes he feels like Woody from Toy Story, but overall, he is learning how to walk the line and not change who he is as a wrestler.

Cody Rhodes recently spoke to Kevin and Cory and explained how getting booed has impacted his character, or at least how he tries not to allow it to change who he is on TV.

“I’ve been asked this a lot lately and I feel almost terrible in all my responses because one day I said I feel like Woody from ‘Toy Story’ because you know, New York booed a lot [at Grand Slam], and Charlotte booed a lot. But then, this past weekend in Miami, and it’s kind of a spoiler, kind of not, all of the sudden you got this giant positive, you know, reception. And I thought okay, I think that’s the route I’m gonna be going on,” Rhodes explained, “is walking that line right at the middle of I’m not gonna change who I am as a wrestler.

“And I think years and years of people assuming we’re gonna do something kind of WWE-like style or soap opera [like] with those boos, I think the route we’re going on is the route that’s probably the most challenging but we can’t give people what they’ve already seen before. So if that means New York is gonna boo me and then that means Miami is gonna cheer me, or Atlanta’s gonna cheer me, Boston might boo me, then I can walk that line. I really can. It’s like playing at home and playing an away game. It’s different when wrestling, sometimes it’s good and palatable just to play checkers,” Rhodes said. But I think what I do on screen has been a lot of chess and I’m just living it. As long as they’re the loudest, the longest, whether it’s positive or negative, I have no complaints.”

The reaction in Miami that Rhodes mentioned is related to the Dynamite and Rampage tapings that took place last week. Dynamite aired live from Miami on Saturday, October 16, and you can read what is still set to air on Rampage this Friday at this link.
