While recently featuring on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, reminisced on a backstage spat he had with John Cena. Key moments from the engaging podcast discussion are shared below:
On the topic of his disagreement with John Cena, Rhodes heatedly shared, “Our biggest argument, which occurred both in front of the camera and away from it, centered around Cena’s belief that I’m not as genuine or authentic as he is. However, I believe I’ve confidently grown into my own skin, and have established a verifiable reputation for myself. The truth of the matter is, authenticity cannot be faked.”
Regarding the impossibility of pleasing every fan, Rhodes revealed, “Perhaps some fans just don’t accept you, as much as you’d like them to. Not every fan will cheer for you; some might not even like you. I experienced this when I was opposing Kevin Owens. He has an incredible following and strong overall goodwill. Most fans were supportive, but there were few exceptions – unexpected reactions come up now and then. That’s just something you have to accept. It’s impossible to win over everyone.”
Rhodes is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cena in the upcoming WrestleMania 41.
