Uncontested WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, anticipates his return to the wrestling ring and hopes to grapple with The Rock, who Cody believes, still retains considerable tenacity in his arsenal.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joined forces with Roman Reigns for his first match since 2016, to bag the victory at WrestleMania 40 (Night One). Their opponents, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, lost to this dynamic team in April 2024.
During a fresh episode of the “Insight” podcast, Rhodes expressed his past rivalry with The Rock, dubbed as the “Final Boss,” and desires to challenge him again. He stated,
“Should he decide to never return, he’s achieved it all, truly. Regardless of my past flippant remarks, it was a privilege to be a part of what could potentially be his last combat. However, his physical prowess and skill in the ring have led me to believe that it shouldn’t be his ultimate match. He still has more in him. The WWE Universe and wrestling fans deserve to witness the remaining strength, potential multiple reserves even, that he has.
“Even though it’s quite possible to imagine him as the WWE Director of the Board, his presence in the ring would be greatly advantageous. Our young audience’s connection with him could deepen as they see him not as the previous ‘People’s Champ,’ but as ‘The Final Boss.’ I’m willing to meet him in the ring anytime, anyplace.”
The remarkable proposition emerged at the 2024 Elimination Chamber: Perth, where Rhodes boldly pledged to take on The Rock anytime, anyplace.
As per unconfirmed reports, the WWE has plans for a direct, one-on-one contest between Rhodes and The Rock at the forthcoming WrestleMania 41 in April 2025. This match, however, has not been officially disclosed.
