In a recent conversation with Adrian Hernandez, Cody Rhodes opened up about his 2012 Extreme Rules match against The Big Show and the significant role the former WWE Superstar played in shaping his professional wrestling career. The match was a Tables match and saw Big Show fall off the apron and through a table, leading to Rhodes winning the match and the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Sharing his thoughts, Cody said, “It’s enlightening to look back at this match now because I believe this person deserves recognition for their role — and that person is the Big Show. People have often wondered whether the match played out as it was meant to. Big Show was incredibly influential in my career, perhaps more than he realizes. I was in the process of growing in the ring when I came up against him and I consider myself fortunate for that experience. That entire sequence was his brainchild, with Michael Hayes giving his nod of agreement. It turned into a memorable moment.”
In another recent media interaction, on the “A2theK Wrestling Show,” Kaitlyn, also known as Celeste Bonin, recounted her time at WWE NXT, highlighting her collaboration with Vickie Guerrero. During an era in NXT that was akin to a “game show”, Guerrero acted as her mentor.
Expressing her thoughts, Kaitlyn said, “Even though I didn’t know much about Vickie at the time, I always held her in high regard. I admired what she achieved during her time and how popular she was. It was truly awe-inspiring being around her, learning under her tutelage. We built a strong rapport and I deeply appreciated the unique dynamic we had on the show as it not only sheltered me but also helped me grow in many ways. Vickie, owing to her popularity, was a force to be reckoned with. We had a profound connection and I am really thankful to have had her as a guide and mentor. While the show had the concept of pairing a pro with a rookie, for me, it wasn’t just for the cameras.
