During the most recent edition of WWE SmackDown, two of the leading giants in WWE’s main event sphere, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, had a one-on-one encounter at the halfway line within the Georgia Tech stadium.
Considering their extensive shared history, deep-seated tension was evident as they attempted to find common ground in advance of their tag team collision against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu during WWE Bad Blood.
Here are a few standout points from their fiery dialogue:
Reigns brought up his past in football and staked a claim for the stadium. However, Rhodes countered this, emphasizing his family’s extensive contributions to the city.
Rhodes highlighted that he’s got nothing more to lose given the loss of his title, the ula fala, Jimmy Uso, The Wise Man Paul Heyman, and The Bloodline. Conversely, he pointed out that everything is at stake for Cody.
Rhodes reemphasized a statement he made previously to Reigns, predicting that everything will backfire on him leaving him as a chief without followers.
Roman inquired about Rhodes’s expectations from him, to which Cody responded, “I want your assurance that you’ll watch my back, so I can do the same for you.”
Reigns conceded to the statement but clarified that post this alliance, he aims to reclaim the title, a claim that Rhodes promptly rejects saying, “It’s not yours to take.”
Reigns concluded the conversation by conveying to The American Nightmare, “You’re obstructing my path in life.”

The writer’s perspective: Despite the overly exaggerated melodrama in this segment, I must confess, it was captivating. Few storylines carry this magnitude of anticipation, resulting from years of buildup. Had WWE attempted similar with Gunther and Sami Zayn, it’d sound absurd, but for this storyline, it’s commendable.
