On Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes shared the ring for a dueling promo ahead of the 2024 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
Punk kicked things off by talking about how Dusty Rhodes called him when Cody first headed to OVW and asked him to look out for his son.
Punk noted how Cody was able to stay out of trouble and achieved main-event status, and that he was proud of him.
However, Punk stated that he felt like he would be breaking his promise to Dusty on Saturday as he plans to eliminate Cody should they cross paths.
Rhodes then spoke about the numerous people who talk to him and tell stories about his late father, and that he has done what he can to become his own man.
The American Nightmare recalled how he and the Second City Saint became friends on OVW and it’s bittersweet because in the Royal Rumble, there are no friends.
Punk then talked about how he wasn’t born in this business but Cody was, and that coming from a blue-collar father he’s more of an American Dream than Rhodes would ever be.
In response, Cody mentioned Punk’s famous “Pipebomb” promo and how he set the stage for a revolution but then walked out of WWE, and he was the one who did all the things the former AEW World Champion talked about, making him more “CM Punk” than Punk himself.
Punk then vowed to give Cody the “full Road to WrestleMania CM Punk experience,” while Cody declared that his Road to WrestleMania goes through Punk.

The Women’s Tag Team Champions were staring off with Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark when Damage CTRL blindsided them.
