In 2022, Vince McMahon stepped down from his positions as the CEO and Chairman of WWE, amidst allegations of paying hush money. Despite departing the company post the merger between WWE and UFC, McMahon retained a measure of influence in the creative aspects.
He then took over as the Executive Chairman of TKO, but later exited following serious accusations levied by Janel Grant, an ex-WWE employee. McMahon was sued by Grant for charges such as sex trafficking and rape, which also implicated John Laurinaitis and WWE itself.
Following these developments, popular WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes was questioned about his knowledge of the allegations during a media interaction after the event ‘Bash In Berlin’. A noticeable silence from the WWE players regarding this matter was also addressed during the session.
Rhodes clarified that the wrestlers are largely focused on delivering top quality performances and engaging narratives in every match. He also mentioned that information on legal matters, such as the current lawsuit, reaches the locker room just like it does to the public, suggesting that insiders are not privy to any exclusive information.
“In relation to the apparent silence from the locker room, it’s more about us concentrating on our daily WWE responsibilities, rather than any concerted effort to remain mum on the issue”, he said.
Rhodes defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title against Kevin Owens during the WWE Bash In Berlin 2024 event.
