CM Punk Wasn’t Thrilled With Pitched AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door Opponent

With the return of CM Punk to AEW for the debut episode of Collision in Chicago, IL, on June 17, there has been speculation about his status for the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2 PPV event later this month. 

It was reported last week that KENTA vs. Punk was the planned direction for the show.  

Fightful Select reports Punk wasn’t thrilled with the idea, something that may come across badly in an expected ESPN interview that comes out on Friday. 

The report noted, “Last week, Fightful Select reported that KENTA vs. CM Punk was the planned direction for AEW Forbidden Door. Shortly following that, we were told that Punk “wasn’t thrilled with working with KENTA and he may come across badly in an interview.”  However, there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye, and that might have been by design.”
